Page 2 of 3 Interface elements overview First, you'll need to understand the elements inside the InDesign CS3 workspace. -
Menu bar  First, on the very top is the menu bar. This is where you can access all of the commands in InDesign CS3. -
Tools panel
This is where you can access all the tools. For example, if you want to add text to the document, you would select the Text tool from the tools panel. On some tools, there is a small arrow on the bottom corner. This indicates that if you click and hole on the button, a menu will appear with more tools that are similar to the tool you've clicked. -
Control panel
After you select a tool, the option bar will display the options for the tool you've selected. Here, you can change the settings for your tool. If you select another tool from the tools panel, the control panel will change to the settings of the new tool that you just selected. -
Panels
When these panels are clicked, a palette will appear letting you view and/or change the settings in that palette. For example, if you select the Pages panel, the Pages palette will appear allowing you to adjust the settings in that palette.
