Scanned Film Photo Photoshop TutorialStep 1Open any photo that you want to make look like a scanned film photo. Of course, it has to be an image from a digital camera and not a photo that was scanned in.
Step 2In the Layers palette, click on the
Step 3We can do all the color adjustments using the Curves tool. The Curves tool makes it easy and eliminates the need of using several adjustment layers. First, select Green from the Channel drop down menu. Then, move the two points to the middle left and middle right as shown in the image below. Don't click OK yet!
Step 4Now select Blue from the Channel drop down menu and position the curve like the image below. Click OK when done.
Here's what your image should look like; a cyan and orange pop-art effect.
Step 5Change the blending mode on the Curves adjustment layer to Overlay.
And here's what the image looks like with the Curves adjustment layer blended. If you look in the distance, you can see some haze like a photo taken with a film camera and no UV filter.
Step 6Now we will reduce the image contrast to match a scanned photo. Start by adding a Brightness/Contrast adjustment layer.
First, checkmark the Use Legacy option if you are using Photoshop CS3. This will use the older version of the Brightness/Contrast tool which produces a more linear look.
